Originally from the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, Illinois, both Leah and Rachel have an
in-depth background in hotel, marketing and guest services. Leah attended college in Minnesota, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Upon graduation, she was the Business Manager at the prestigious Drake Hotel in Chicago before moving to South Haven in 2001. Rachel attended college at University of California at San Diego, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She moved to Sea Island, Georgia where she worked as the Online Marketing Manager for the five-star Sea Island Resort, before becoming co-owner of Michigan Vacation Cottages.

In 2007, Leah and a local real estate agent were selected to participate in The Learning Channel's show called 'Flip That House'. This great experience of totally renovating a home taught her all about home construction, design, and maintenance. This knowledge prompted her to enter into her own vacation home rental and management business. The first year was successful, and the second year was made even more successful by the repeat business of happy former clients.
